Who is eligible?

Dancers who have participated in at least one NEDP project are eligible to apply as choreographers. You are also welcome to apply while participating as a dancer in the current project.​

How are choreographers chosen?

​Choreographers are selected based primarily on the strength and clarity of their idea, rather than experience or ability, with additional considerations including the overall variety of dance styles in the show and the choreographer’s availability; if unsuccessful, you will receive feedback and are encouraged to apply again in the future. Unfortunately, you won't be able to perform in your own choreography.

Can I apply if I've already choreographed for NEDP previously?

Yes, you are welcome to apply to choreograph again. However, priority may be given to new applicants to ensure the opportunity is shared as widely as possible, which may affect your chances of being selected a second time.

How does it work?

• If successful, choreographers will receive confirmation from director Amy Becke.

• You will then work with Amy to schedule three or four choreography sessions at mutually convenient times.

• Choreographers who are also participating as dancers in the current project do not need to pay for the sessions in which they are acting as choreographer.

• Amy will actively support all choreographers, regardless of experience level, to help ensure the work is of high quality and clearly communicated to the dancers.

• Choreographers will have the chance to contribute ideas for costumes and lighting design.
